Lilliput serves families formed through foster, adoption and kinship care. Every year, nearly half a million children are removed from their homes. When children are unable to be safely returned to their birth families, Lilliput strives to ensure that these children are either able to remain within the safety net of their extended family when possible, or find a new home with a committed and nurturing family. Lilliput's efforts, to ensure that children are placed in families who are willing to support a ''concurrent plan,'' (supporting a child's plan to return to birth parents, while concurrently following through with the commitment to provide a child with a home, for as long as the child needs, up to and including adoption) significantly reduces the number of moves and the time spent in out-of-home foster care that a child experiences.
